Under the “Belt and Road” initiative, educational exchanges between China and ASEAN countries have become increasingly frequent. Currently, Guangxi has emerged as one of the provinces with the highest number of Southeast Asian international students studying in China. However, there are still certain misconceptions among ASEAN international students studying in Guangxi regarding their perception of China’s image. The foremost reason for this discrepancy lies in the existing cognitive education system implemented by educational institutions, which is disconnected from the youth population and does not align with the cognitive needs of international students. In order to construct a practical education system for ASEAN international students to enhance their perception of China’s image, this study focuses on the ASEAN international students studying in Guangxi and investigates the practical issues concerning the cognitive education of China’s image among this group.
