ABSTRACT

Confucianism and Daoism share the same origin in Chinese philosophy. The Huang-Lao school, which emerged during the early Han dynasty, produced two branches: Confucianism and Daoism. This school used Chinese society as a laboratory for social science experiments based on The Book of Changes (Yijing) and Laozi, aiming to establish a universal society based on the ideal of “great unity” (datong).
