ABSTRACT
When
addressing a complex issue, such as youth at risk, it is essential to
acknowledge that youth at risk are the problems not in and of themselves,
but rather a symptom of a society
that fails to meet the full needs of children and adolescents around the world. In this piece, all
citizens, leaders, corporations, and educators are urged to
take action and collaborate in building a system that better identifies and
mitigates the risk factors youth around the world are facing. Every challenge identified creates an opportunity to do things differently and
could ultimately result in mutable outcomes. Failure to attenuate these
provocations and lay claim to opportunity would only lead to entropic and
long-term consequences.
